On the side....

After work yesterday we were finally able to do some shopping and get some Indian tops - very fun and cheap! :) After shoping Vida and I met up with a couple of students from Oklahoma - one of which Vida happens to know from Baylor (SMALL WORLD!). The four of us went to Vellore Fort. It was wonderful - beautiful architecture, amazing views, and great people-watching! Inside the fort is Sri Jalakanterswarar Temple Fort...a beautiful Hindu temple. We removed our shoes before entering (hopefully no hookworm!) and then walked into an amazing and surreal world. I don't know if it was the right time of day or if it was a special holiday, but the temple was very busy and there were many ceremonies going on throughout the temple. It really took my breath away. Unfortunately, we were not allowed to take pictures inside the temple, but it is an experience that I will never forget.

There are many students here from all over the world...London, Detroit, Singapore, etc and it has been fun to get to know them little by little. I have met a lot of people at dinner since there are only so many hotels in town for people to get dinner at. Since I brought up the food...oh my goodness!!! I love it! To be honest, I was not a huge fan of Indian food before I came, and I was a little worried about that. However, the food here is absolutely amazing!!! I must say that came to a very very pleasant suprise.
